The Hunt 2020 Best Thriller Movies

The Hunt was released in 2020 and is an action thriller movie that faced some challenges due to its extensive use of firearms. Early reviews on rating platforms highlighted the controversy surrounding the movie, particularly focusing on its perceived inappropriateness. However, despite these comments, the film caters to horror enthusiasts and fans of narratives centered around elite hunting groups targeting unsuspecting victims. It offers an intriguing combination of creative and gory scenes, along with intense and action-packed sequences. Lastly, the movie boasts an exceptional cast, adding to its overall appeal.

In this intense and suspenseful action-thriller, the story revolves around a dark and deadly game known as “The Hunt.” As the scene unfolds aboard an airplane, a massive bearded man stumbles into first class, clearly under the influence of a powerful drug. The mystery deepens as we fast forward to a large clearing, where twelve strangers find themselves surrounded by a massive crate of weapons.

Reminiscent of films like “Happy Hunting” and the “Hostel” trilogy, “The Hunt” takes the concept of large-scale hunting competitions to a chilling new level. In this twisted game, the participants are the hunted, and their lives become the source of entertainment and gratification for others.

As the story unfolds, the strangers are forced to fight for their survival, using their wits and the limited resources at their disposal. They must navigate through a treacherous and deadly landscape, filled with traps and cunning adversaries. Amidst the chaos and bloodshed, alliances are formed, betrayals are uncovered, and the true nature of the game is revealed.

With its premise and suspenseful narrative, “The Hunt” is white-knuckled action, until the final twist. This thought-provoking film challenges our perception of morality and the lengths people will go to for power, control, and entertainment.

Movies About Hunting People

The film’s critics often dismiss it as gratuitous violence, but there is much more to it than meets the eye. While there may be some political commentary woven into the story, it also cleverly satirizes various aspects of society. No one is spared from its humorous jabs. The characters, though not extensively developed, serve their purpose in driving the plot forward. And yes, there is a significant amount of killing in the movie. It revolves around a group of individuals who are assigned the mission of eliminating specific targets that have been strategically placed near a secluded Manor House.

The collaboration between writers Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof brings a humorously infused writing style to The Hunt. Their creative partnership results in a unique blend of wit and entertainment. Additionally, the excellent choreography featured in the many action sequences adds an extra layer of visual appeal. And let’s not forget about the armful of elaborate annihilations scattered throughout the content.

The Hunt, Great Casting, And Excellent Movie

A central character in The Hunt, Crystal, becomes the driving force behind the story as she evolves into a resilient survivalist. As a bonus, this movie takes pleasure in defying common movie tropes. There is no way to predict the order of deaths based on the stars’ popularity; The Hunt shatters those expectations.

One of the aspects I particularly enjoyed about this film was the inclusion of conspiracy theorists on both sides of the story. It added an intriguing layer to the plot, never knowing who to trust. The Hunt managed to surprise me every step of the way, avoiding the predictable and clichéd endings that plague many movies in this genre.

Unlike other tales that revolve around hunting people, The Hunt goes beyond the pursuit of money or power. It presents a refreshing departure from the norm, offering a different perspective on the motives behind such a terrifying premise. It’s this departure that sets The Hunt apart and makes it a must-watch for movie enthusiasts seeking a unique and thought-provoking experience.

Of course, it’s easy to say that this film is just a lazy excuse to cause a fuss about stereotypes. Many people on the internet compare this film to “The Hunger Games,” but they clearly weren’t paying attention. Others think the film’s message is weak. But why does a movie always have to pick a side? The Hunt cleverly avoids taking a clear stance, making it clever and witty. The final sequence strengthens this point even more. It keeps the futility of trying to make a point by having the main antagonist unsure about her own agenda.

Action, Horror, and Thriller Movies

The storytelling in this movie moves quickly and is full of excitement. Furthermore, the ideas explored during the concise 90-minute run-time are contemporary and enjoyable. The relaxed framework of the movie is largely thanks to Betty Gilpin’s strong performance. If I had to mention a personal dislike, it would be fight scenes that are excessively long. Except for Donny Yen from the movie “Ip Man,” whom I could watch fighting indefinitely, I find hand-to-hand battles overly tiresome. Similarly, implausible recoveries also make me question the storyline.
