SWSW Sydney Mother of Movies

South by Southwest Sydney® takes place from 14–20 October. It has established itself as a leading force in genre-focused storytelling. The best of SXSW Sydney 2024 festival crew delivered Mother of Movies several exciting titles to review. Read our early review of the awesome documentary “Witches.”

The festival’s first five headliner films: The Front Room, Smile 2, Pavements, Nightbitch, and Saturday Night marked what lay ahead. These films throw a light on genre-centric storytelling. This is a hallmark of the SXSW Sydney 2024 Screen Festival. The festival is proudly presented by IHG Hotels & Resorts. Independent cinema has another chance to take center stage. This opportunity is a reason why Mother of Movies loves a film fest.

The film received a great reception from audiences at the Venice and New York film festivals. The title premiered on Thursday, 17 October.

Nightbitch

“Nightbitch”: Amy Adams stars in this dark comedy release. It reinvents the fairy tale narrative through the eyes of a stay-at-home mother. She feels stifled after forsaking her artistic ambitions for the grind of parenting. Then, she transforms into a dog. This film, adapted from Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed cult novel of the same name, showcases Adams’ outstanding performance, which has already generated significant Oscars buzz following its premiere at TIFF. The title was screened on Friday, 18 October, and my most anticipated title.
