Despite a unique view into a religion, many will never be privy to, this story hopes to comes across as a universal nightmare. Thomas hopes his portrayal of subtle scares and visceral and psychological terrors will be what forces you to relate. The Vigil is a supernatural horror movie that takes place over one night. Set in Brooklyn, Hasidic Borough Park, Yakov is hired to take the overnight shift and watch over the body of a member of his community. He will the “shomer” a responsibility of Jewish lore. Yakov arrives at the broken down and dilapidated home of the departed and realizes there is something else in this home besides him and the dead.
