Volition is one of those prediction-type storylines that has a few films under its belt. Movies like “The Looper” or “Time Crimes“ use the art of clairvoyant abilities, time travel, and criminals well. The story includes one man with visions who also ends up able to time travel. Volition has been on the festival circuit since 2019. It was released quietly in the USA and Canada in 2020. The time-loop movie is available to rent or buy digitally (cheapest through Google Play and Amazon.)
Time Loops In Movies Through Visions
The narrative for the Volition movie focuses on James. He spends his life in the back alleys of fortune. James is a clairvoyant man skimming money from opportunistic affairs. But James discovers his own death instead. In one of his visions, he discovers he needs to change that path for his future. It starts as a job to steal diamonds. It ends with a time-bending film situation set in the house where James grew up.
Classified as a time-twisting sci-fi thriller, the title treads familiar ground. Visions, whiteboards, and formulas are drawn up as James works out the best actions to take next. Everything is fairly familiar. However, director Tony Dean Smith and co-writer Ryan W. Smith’s worthy and complex narrative does a great job with interesting characters. There is also vivid pacing that never slows long enough to detract your attention.
