Final Score 2018 poster

Dave Bautista is better known as Drax the Destroyer, Guardian of the Galaxy but here he is Michael Knox, guardian of the football sorry soccer, no um football, well some kind of sports stadium. Final Score 2018 is an action thriller movie and it’s pretty good. The story follows Knox, an ex-soldier just trying to enjoy the game with his niece. Of course, some terrorists decide they want to blow everything up instead and all Michael wants is a hot dog.

The Final Score movie is an Action-thriller and I’m here to tell you this was not boring but a little silly in places. Can Drax the Destroyer beat Thanos? I don’t know, but he kicks a lot of a** here.

Final Score Movie Review

The setup for the Final Score film is great and began as the whole reason I wanted to see this. It starts at the start of a sports match in a stadium where a terrorist group has plans to use the capacity audience as leverage.

Micheal is attending the game with his niece and for all intents and purposes, straight up he is one twitchy ticket holder. Not only does his massive stature stand out in the crowd but he seems to be noticing some odd crowd behavior. When he loses sight of his niece he realizes the things that are making him twitchy might not be so strange and confirms that something is definitely amiss.

When the entire stadium loses phone reception, he decides to go straight to the control tower to locate his niece. But as he gets closer to being able to get a loudspeaker message out shouting her name like a lost child, things take quite the spiral into chaos. He enlists the assistance of crowd attendant Faisal to give him some directions while he takes out some baddies.

Are the Fight Scenes in the Final Score Any Good?

The fight scenes in Final Score begin evenly matched but soon increase in difficulty. The trusty attendant-come-sidekick is not the annoying useless type. Although comedic he can think for himself a little despite being scared out of his wits. His accent brings some giggles to the narrative and I enjoy his company in the story.

During a massive fight, I do query why the kitchen is still fully operational enough for either hero or foe to cook some chips but it makes for some interesting violence. If you like your kills with some hot oil and scorching grill plates then you won’t be disappointed.

The police and terrorists aren’t the usual dummies I’ve had inflicted on me lately and both the good guys and the bad guys have extra security measures in place. Instead of the usual feigning of ignorance, the baddies are one step ahead but the police aren’t too far behind. When our hero is unable to call in additional backup using fancy walkie-talkies, Michaels’s failure to do so is plausible. Thankfully at this point, I’m still engaged and excited.

Who Owns the Motorbikes in Final Score?

Later in the film, some motorbikes were introduced and although convenient, I did wonder where they came from. Why were they there? With keys? However, lots of people got to ride motorbikes up the stadium stairs and across rooftops so I guess it all worked out for the writers and the stuntmen and it was kind of cool so I’ll deal with it. Was it a staff parking lot for motorbikes on ground level or? … yep, out of guesses? Let’s just say that’s what it was.

There is a little squabble between Steed (played by Ralph Brown) and Agent Cho (played by Julien Cheung.) They argue about the difference between soccer and football but this only cements my resolve to not give a-rats. I do appreciate the flow and consistency it brings to the narrative though, Kudos.

After a stack of non-stop action, it does wind down a bit. It also gets a bit political. There is a massive punch to the gut when the terrorists begin threatening to blow the stadium and its occupants up. There is too much of this in real life at the moment and I get a little twinge of nerves.

What’s Faizel Really Got in His Jacket?

For some reason Faizel’s attempt at clearing the stands induces laughter. I can see his way of doing this being a contentious point for some. Perhaps it was nervous shocked laughter or perhaps I just have a strange sense of humor. Whatever the case, I found it funny nonetheless. Faisal had been earmarked as a terrorist early on by an elderly woman in the crowd and when he fails to convince her to evacuate the stands he takes a novel approach.

Seconds later the Final Score movie’s last scenes become not unlike some of the most harrowing nightmares from around the globe and I’m sad until the action gods step in and make me not so sad again.

It’s a good watch. I recommend it. Even if it has a few cliches and stuff is thrown in that shouldn’t be there. Give it a crack with some beers and some Bautista or Brosnan fans and you’ve got yourself a party. Just tell them it has Drax the Destroyer in it.
