What Keeps You Alive Poster Movie on Netflix

What Keeps You Alive movie is one of the best dark and tense thrillers currently available to stream. Many people will not agree, but I think I might be able to convince you, that it’s worth your time. A character-driven story set in a remote landscape with two lovers. LGBTQ+ forward horror for the casual viewer and we like that.

Jackie is taking Jules back to her family cabin and they are newlywed. Nothing seems out of the ordinary, just two people spending some time together in a remote and beautiful place. I would have to call this one a slow burn but it’s the type that’s filmed so skillfully, you know something’s up but can’t put your finger on it.

Not a lot of time passes before the first hurdle for the lovebirds. I kind of get a massive kick out of surprise events and What Keeps You Alive is pretty good. The title also keeps the right amount of information at a distance and teases it out ever so slowly.

What Keeps You Alive Review

A few people I spoke to after watching had some issues with a few ‘clues’ dropped into the storyline. I was too busy being wowed about how well this was filmed to worry about a few small details entering the narrative. The cast is so small, that I’m not sure how it could’ve been done better.

I think that any story can be related to something already in the cinema world. It’s the main reason I rarely watch a trailer. I’m partial to totally original ideas but I don’t have any issues with generic play-by-play. People complain about films using too many jump-scares, but there aren’t that many ways to jam tension into a film. The What Keeps You Alive movie includes a few of these circumstances but here’s the thing… it’s what it added that made it kick-ass. Underneath the story was a portrait of Jackie. A portrait of the main character looking inside her through the eyes of Jules.

What Keeps You Alive Ending

Finally, the only downside was it did feel like it could have finished with the attic scene. The final quarter and the ending of What Keeps You Alive were a tiny bit grandstand-ish. Despite this, decisions and thought processes made by key characters weren’t unjustified. I’d love a prequel for this film. And the soundtrack, I’m fairly certain I will be buying it.
