The original short story for “The Dreams in the Witch House” (Weird Tales) reads slightly similar to the story from “H P Lovecraft’s Witch House” movie. The story reads slightly similar to the story from “H P Lovecraft’s Witch House” movie. Both movies include a house with an attic, and a student (who is good at math, who knows). Other specific characters from the book have been built into the adaptation too. Nevertheless, most of them have changed significantly. H.P. Lovecraft’s Witch House tries to bring the odd and the unusual into its production.
It’s a narrative similar to the film “Prince of Darkness.” It mixes religion and science. It also douses everything in Lovecraftian aesthetic. The estate in this film is a haunted house that infects Alice’s dreams with things she later can’t remember. Alice wants to connect the dots between this weird house while trying to uncover alternate dimensions. The house has significant objects. These objects make everything people have historically said about this creepy old house true. H.P. Lovecraft’s Witch House churns out plenty of dark and gruesome imagery. It attempts to pull together the best parts of the original tale.
Cosmic Horror Movies — Lovecraftian Cinema
Overall, the cinematography was way too dark, probably to compensate for budget restraints. There’s a sex scene about halfway through. Although it was nicely done, it didn’t quite have a reason to be there. Many Lovecraft films do like to sprinkle in some jarring scenes. I suppose it can be waived away for that reason. Dream and reality certainly blur in director Bobby Easley’s take on all things weird.
I can’t say I was a huge fan of this movie. I almost feel like I got played by the use of the HP Lovecraft name.

On Letterboxd.com, The Witch House wasn’t well received there either. One reviewer said
“The acting and writing don’t do it justice at all. Granted there’s a few unintentional hilarious moments. But there’s just not a whole lot going on here to warrant a watch.”
“I stopped after the first 5 minutes.”
