There is so much noise surrounding these two films based on the classic children’s story watching both Winnie the Pooh, movies had to be done. Blood and Honey 2 was released to cinemas on March 28th, 2024 in Australia and the 26th in the USA the title will be streaming before we know it. It’s safe to say the original Winnie the Pooh horror movie directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield was not a winner for me. When news of a second film broke, I was extremely uninterested. But has my faith in this arena been restored?
The extremely violent twisted adaptation starts off the way its predecessor began. There is a brief voiceover and cartoon to fill in the gaps between where the first movie ended and the second began. We learn that Christopher Robin didn’t fare so well after his wife and many others were massacred in the 100-acre woods. Christopher went into hiding when most of the town determined the young man should be cast out. The remaining few that believed his story took a vigilante stance burning parts of the forest down in the hopes of flushing Pooh and his friends out.
Again, Winter came and survival was difficult forcing Pooh to re-unite with friends from his past.
“You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

Blood and Honey 2 Tigger
The introduction of classic Disney characters into the underground rave of horror has been heavily debated. Especially since Blood and Honey 2 features Tigger, for the first time since entering the public domain. Previously these characters were protected by copyright. Fortunately, I can confirm that the Tigger in this title barely resembles the beloved character from the A. A. Milne book. Joining the collection of friends is Owl and Piglet who together decide it’s time to finish off their bloody rampage and end their story once and for all.
Like a tick sheet for horror tropes of past present and future the film spits out vicious slayings like it’s on a mission to see how many it can fit in. And what better way to start than with a group of ladies organized in a caravan in the 100-acre woods?
The gore and subsequent butchering set the tone for what’s to come. The evil versions of history’s most famous characters set off on a cataclysmic journey of destruction. If you’re looking for high-caliber blood, intense gore, mashed-up bodies, and more you will find all that in this solid entry into the fun horror niche.
Cinematography is a movie highlight featuring detailed set locations, beautifully lit scenes, and artistically creative lighting and framing that really does these well-designed creatures justice. They might not resemble (and quite rightly) their children’s book looks, but they are impressive in their own right.
Winnie The Pooh Blood And Honey 2
Mother of Movies has often been critical of Frake-Waterfield’s work, usually finding it lacking in various aspects. Yet, “Blood and Honey 2” emerges as a successful exception. The innovative input from Matt Leslie as the writer, instead of Frake-Waterfield’s regular collaborator Tom Jolliffe, has proven to be a game-changer,
“Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2” excels, delivering over the top carnage, a compelling narrative, as well as, effective special effects. There is possibly an overuse of decapitations in the newest 2024 horror movie derived from fables but this time, I’m not complaining.
The narrative shifts from the novelty backstories of our horrifically beloved forest companions to the life of Christopher Robin in Ashdown. The alliance of Owl, Piglet, Pooh, and Tigger pulsates with an undercurrent of vengeance, a compelling twist on origins steeped in innocence.
The highlight of this story is undoubtedly the tidily crafted lore and histories of the anti-Disney characters. It’s not only integrated well but entertaining too. Following the original material’s concept while exploring its darker potential.
“All things truly wicked start from innocence.”
Winnie the Pooh quotes
I tuned into ‘Blood and Honey 2’ late into the evening, confidently expecting it to be a casual watch. However, not only did it have my complete attention, I was forced to revisit it for a more invested viewing the following day. Among the standout moments in the film is a nightclub scene bloodbath where the rhythm of pulsating techno beats is juxtaposed with Tigger’s reign of terror over the dive dwelling crowd. This sequence is so much fun. Well orchestrated and visually bloody vicious.
Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey 2 is set to be the standout horror movie for those craving a win in this horror niche.
The film hints at an even deeper storyline, suggesting there might be more in store.
Fans of this novel twist on a classic tale are in for a big surprise.
Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey 2 is rated
4.5 I hope this makes up for all the bad reviews I’ve written out of 5

“Oh, how our memories deceive us. Christopher imagined his early moments with Pooh filled with joy innocence and happiness. But the truth was much darker. Pooh was never who Christopher thought he was. His naive young mind simply wiped away what he couldn’t understand or explain.
Scary wicked things.”
