Redd Inc. Poster for the review on vanessasnonspoilers.com

If I’m going to watch creepy horror movies, I only really need a few things. If the film itself is generic, it needs some additional merits. Redd Inc. has all the inner workings of many other films but what it lacks in originality it makes up for in other ways. The practical effects here are beyond what I expected and the characters each have their own charm.

The film begins with a newscast surrounding the murder of a company executive. Clips of people commenting on the case and the flurry of excitement for the gruesome nature of the original scene combined with the capture of a notorious serial killer dubbed “Headhunter.”

Regional manager Thomas Reddmann is charged after a quick and tidy criminal investigation. He is then whisked off to a treatment facility that burns to the ground. Redmann is thought to be dead because his left arm was found burned at the scene.

How Many Titles For Redd Inc.

Redd Inc. has a few different titles depending on where in the world you are. It’s a shame really, it kind of makes it hard to find. Luckily, I had it recommended to me and because it was from my virtual movie twin (let’s call her Emma), I watched it. If you’re in Germany, you will find it under Headhunt, Japan Inhuman Resources, and, Australia, Redd Inc.

For another violent movie with torture, have you seen The Dare?

Creepy Horror Movies and Nicholas Hope

Played by Nicholas Hope of the cult hit, Bad Boy Bubby, is Thomas Redmann. I found his performance here, wonderful. I can see some thinking his portrayal is overworked but I just wish there were more movies with Redd in them. Redd’s not dead and instead insistent on proving to everyone that he is innocent. A crazy task, it seems, as the witnesses saw him covered in blood and holding an ax when the murder took place. No one who wakes up in the newly appointed office thinks Redd is anything but guilty. They also think he is a crazy lunatic.

The new office dynamic is a mixture of people who were responsible for the guilty conviction handed to him. Discipline is swift with a tally mark on the forehead. Five tally marks mean a formal punishment will be applied. While I was ultimately impressed with the gore level of Redd Inc., I must admit I was somewhat disappointed early on with the ‘crazy guy tortures people line.’ Under normal circumstances, I may have even turned this one off. I’m just not into unjustified mutilation and, I didn’t think I would be given a story further than what I was guessing would happen.

Office Workplace Horror

But, I knew my movie twin wouldn’t have raved about a film unless there was more to it. And there is. You don’t have to wait too long to begin to see there is more to this situation than meets the eye. I’ve seen other horror films set in an office; Mayhem (2018) is a favorite virus film of mine, The Belko Experiment (2016) plays one person against the other and, Bloodsucking Bastards (2015) sees the head vampire recruit in unusual ways. There is even a South Korean film, Office (2015) which takes a more supernatural route in killing others in a work environment.

Redd Inc. gives you the gratuitous blood and gore combined with some great cohesive characters. Sure there are a few predictive elements to the narrative. Many seasoned horror fans will pick up some things immediately, but, overall it’s pretty darn good, especially for a film that most would consider extreme horror. This movie is not at the upper end of that genre niche but falls into the squirmy uncomfortable end. It includes things like removing splinters and has some gruesome death scenes.

One-liners in Movies Make Everything Better

There are some great one-liners included in Redd Inc. too;

I found that mid-way, the pace seemed to have slowed down a little. Were we going to see all the players killed off? Luckily, the film dives back in with a change of direction and quickly becomes something to revel in. The end sequences, although a little contrived, actually did a great job of spicing things up.

At the end of the day, Redd Inc. is one of many underrated creepy Australian horror films that I am happy to recommend.
