The Isolation Horrors is an anthology movie that premiered in April while 5 filmmakers were in quarantine. This is the result of their collaboration via skype and other tech devices to get the job done. Overall, it’s a pretty good watch and it only runs for 25-minutes. More to the point, it’s available on Youtube for free. Found footage horror movies for free, how can you go wrong?
The film is set up relatably to the epidemic outbreak currently sweeping the world in 2020. Of course, The Isolation Horrors is fiction, and any aspects that reflect real life would be entirely coincidental. The wraparound element of one main character seals the stories told by the filmmakers in a tight shell. A lot of times, anthology films can feel disjointed or thrown together, but this has no such issue. There is also a great lack of shaky-cam to be seen, which is nice for a found footage movie.
The isolation horrors anthology consists of four separate pieces. Goryo, Across the Landing, Anomalous, and Ghosting Isolation. Goryo and Ghosting Isolation stick to the average horror movie rules and follow hauntings. Across the Landing and Anomalous take situations from current news trends about dobbing in those not abiding to stay at home rules and of course the great toilet paper situation. In fact, these were my favorite two segments.
Who Are The Filmmakers For The Isolation Horrors?
Where to watch and more information on the production and casting see my previous article with links to the channel on YouTube.
Starring the filmmakers: M. W. Daniels, Emma Dark, Nikolai Kornum, Richard Markworth and, John Whitaker.
The cast all go by their real names and the story begins when Nikolai finds a face mask covered in blood in the street and takes it home. Conjuring up Dr. Google, it advises him to check on people he knows to see if they are sick and so, he begins a series of Skype (video chat) calls. Each call starts a new story as his neighbors start to talk about their own quarantine horror experience. I really liked the use of one single device to tie everything together. What took away from this a little was the lack of caution Nikolai used when handling the prop. In turn, this made it less real than it could have been.

The Isolation Horrors film is a solid entry and a great bite of cinema if you’re looking for something quick to watch. Despite the predictability of the storylines, the finale and the unique twists on well-worn niches are clever and well thought out.
