Free to watch horror short movie on YouTube & Vimeo

“Bill” is to watch free online on YouTube and Vimeo and is a three-minute horror short film from Sketchbook Pictures. A self-funded movie, the scary ghost story that will pull at your heartstrings premiered online first at the ENCOUNTERS SHORT FILM FESTIVAL. Directed and written by a couple, Dan Gitsham and Sophie Mair, the story is about a widow. She is desperate to see her husband again and has prepared to find him in the afterlife.

Is Bill Based On A True Story?

The inspiration for the story comes from a ghost Dan and Sophie’s two sons referred to as Bill. Bill liked to frequent the ceiling. Moreover, the two boys would often be seen talking to ‘something’ that certainly didn’t reside on the ground level. Eerily, Bill was also the first word spoken by one of their children as he stared at the room’s roof. I know, creepy right? It sounds like an idea for another short film to me. Now that’s a true ghost story example that freaked me right out.

The horror movie’s short budget was made for a mere £200. In addition, Gitsam and Mair, the filmmakers shot the whole thing in their house in roughly 8 hours. Bill’s first live film premiere was at the Encounters Short Film Festival in 2019.

The short film (free on YouTube), is a simple premise. It certainly pinpoints that the afterlife is not something to be meddled with. You might have ideas about what happens to us after death. It might involve some reachable plain. Undeniably, many of us do but, you might get more than you bargained for.

The widow in Bill is played by Roxana Vilk as she sits at a table with a concoction smoldering in front of her. She speaks to a photo of her husband alluding to the idea that the two came up with this idea together.

Short Horror Films on YouTube, Got 4 Minutes?

Altogether, this great short film is all very creepy. And Bill, the movie does a great job of setting up the atmosphere and tone that take you on a journey through its narrative. Often short films, only give us a taste of the full story. But Bill, the movie, manages to put forward an idea with simple dialogue that cuts to the chase. The photo utilized within the storyline gives the premise depth. It makes us feel hopeful for this widow to be successful before plunging into the fragility of being somewhere you shouldn’t be.
