Camp Death III in 2D #campdeathIIIin2d

Fresh from its premiere screening at Montreal Requiem Fear Fest and following on with Nightmares Film Festival, Sin City Horror Fest and Cinematic Panic announce; Camp Death III in 2D. Did this become one of my favorite funny movies? Erm, no. Was it ‘so bad it was good?’ Again for me, not really.

Camp Death III in 2D is a comedy/horror parody of Friday the 13th Part III in 3D. I got an email from the director Matt Frame asking if I would like to see it. Having previously covered Never Hike Alone, which is a fan film that is now receiving a pretty big fandom, I thought; “what they hey? Let’s do it!”

Where to Watch Camp Death III In 2D

Plot and Official Storyline

Camp Crystal, the moniker applied to many a fan comedy horror film. Here in Camp Death III In 2D and grand reopening has taken place. But this camp is cursed. If you thought being made to attend camp as part of rehabilitation was bad, surely it’s worse if you also get murdered.

How Was It Camp Death III in 2D?

First of all, I have a very quirky sense of humor. One person’s list of funny movies is another person’s bad time. When I watched the trailer, I knew this wouldn’t be my thing but for that reason, I wanted to watch this movie and expand my cinematic horizons. It’s good to try new things because without trying new things, I would never have discovered things like olives. Similarly, comedy/horror is pivotal to my universe and certainly should never be overlooked.

I love the stupidness of Zoolander (2001), the hilariousness of What We Do in the Shadows (2014), and the off-beat cynicism of Zombieland (2009.) This film has none of those qualities. It’s more along the lines of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) combined with some Zombeavers (2014) and a whole bunch of Scary Movie-like gags.

Now I know a lot of people find the latter movies hilarious, and cheesy fun. For those that spew forth wheezing laughter and choose that type of thing on purpose, you will love this.

Camp Death III in 2D has well-constructed scenes and great visuals. The filming techniques used canvass a whole plethora of things not excluding aerial shots and explosions. I liked to think of it as Matt Frames’ catalog of “see what I can do?” And what he can do is pretty darn good. Between the special effects not being the worst, I’ve seen and easily comparable to something akin to Don’t Kill It, I was kind of impressed but wait, I’ll admit it, I was impressed.

Every single character annoyed me and performances bar one terrible attempt at perhaps? a southern accent was exceptionally done. Angela Galanopoulos who plays Rachel even reminded me of Anna Faris who plays Cindy in the Scary Movie franchise.

Don’t You Just Love Crowdfunding?

You gotta give props where props are due and with a budget of only $35 000, Camp Death III in 2D achieved its budget through crowdfunding. This is not a clever comedy. It’s one of the most un-politically correct things I have watched within this very politically correct climate we are currently in.

And that will appeal to lots of you out there I just know it.

Finally, truth be known, I hated this film. Overall though, I certainly think it’s crap done really well. Camp Death didn’t offend me with its content. If poking fun at the challenged people in this world gives you a moralistic breakdown…steer clear. For the rest of you looking for a completely inane funny movie, add it to your watchlist. It even manages to incorporate some Star Wars vehicles and lightsaber killings.
