What We Do In The Shadows Movie Review

The What We Do in the Shadows movie is an absolute riot! I couldn’t stop laughing throughout the entire film. If you’re in the mood for a horror comedy, this one is a must-watch.

Horror comedies have ascended to new heights of cinematic excellence, and The Babysitter (2017) stands as a testament to this thrilling evolution. With masterful artistry, it fuses horror and comedy, crafting an experience that is as unforgettable as it is entertaining. Stepping into this realm reveals other masterpieces as well, such as the iconic Shaun of the Dead (2004), the adventurous Zombieland, the ingeniously witty Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010), and the charmingly subversive Fido (2006).

Elevating itself above the fray, “What We Do in the Shadows” strikes with genius, rewriting the vampire narrative. It is not just a film; it’s an ambitious reimagining, dismantling age-old vampire tropes and reassembling them into a contemporary story of supernatural housemates. The result is nothing short of a comedic masterpiece, precisely calibrated to delight fans across the spectrum while remaining a strikingly intelligent take on the genre.

It’s no wonder that this film has received high praise from viewers. With an average rating of 8.6/10 on IMDb.com, it’s clear that it has struck a chord with audiences. Whether it’s the clubbing scenes, the humorous household chores, or the antics of the wannabe familiars, there’s plenty to enjoy in this movie.

But what truly makes What We Do in the Shadows stand out is its attention to detail. From the well-developed characters to the impressive cinematography and the impact of its narrative, this film checks all the boxes. So, if you’re looking for a surefire hit in the horror comedy genre, What We Do in the Shadows is the perfect choice. Vampire shenanigans were taken to the next level and I loved every minute of it.

Taika Waititi (plays Viago)

In “What We Do in the Shadows”, there are times I could see the budget restraints but it didn’t affect the overall outcome. Filmmakers nailed the character development. The narrative flowed with ease.

My favorite scene from the film would be when homage is duly paid to Lost Boys with the offering of tinned spaghetti. I nearly fell off the couch.
If this is your type of film, and you haven’t seen it and you need to smile then you must see this.
