If you’re a fan of cannibal movies, there are plenty of options to explore. One compelling choice is “Long Pigs,” a horror film that delves into the disturbing world of Anthony McAlister. In this documentary-style movie, McAlister willingly subjects himself to the creation of a highly unsettling documentary.

Cannibal horror movies, like Long Pigs, cater to those who appreciate cinematic obscurity and thrive on intense and shocking experiences. This film is not for the faint of heart. It boasts scenes that will undoubtedly make you cringe or even compel you to avert your gaze. Especially, if you’re unaccustomed to such graphic content. Yet, for connoisseurs of practical gore and those who revel in movies that push the boundaries, Long Pigs is a captivating choice worthy of exploration.

Synopsis and Plot For Long Pigs

A script flashes up at the beginning of the Long Pigs movie to explain that this is a documentary. A documentary movie about cannibals, no less. Some filmmakers have been permitted to do a story about a confessed cannibal. Long Pigs comes with a massive warning about the graphic violence before the camera zooms in on a man in a white lab coat talking about a corpse in front of him as if it were an animal who had just been killed by a hunter.

This is a story about Anthony and his life. Anthony and two filmmakers drive around, with Anthony advising the fat content of sex workers according to how they will complement the dish he is making tonight. Everything seems trivial in this film. For a found footage film about cannibals, Anthony’s daily routine seems as benign as eating a bowl of cereal in the morning.

Will the police ever find out who is killing the locals and will the filmmakers get to release their movie?

If it was wrong to eat it- why would it taste so good?

Long Pigs Cannibal Horror Movies Cast

Vik Sahay plays Dr. Hooshangi. He doesn’t have a big part.
I guess you could call this guy their big star. He is among a long list of actors with no history of acting roles.

Vik has been on TV and in small movie roles since around 1979. After this movie, he went on to do things like Amal (2007,) and TV series such as Bones (2013,) The Mentalist (2013,) The X-Files (2016,) Lucifer (2016,) Grimm (2017,) and Preacher (2017.)

Narcissistic Personality Disorders In Cannibal Horror Movies

“Long Pigs” is a film that dares to delve into unsettling territory, presenting Anthony as a rather ordinary cannibal. From the very beginning, the opening scenes shock with their disturbing and graphic nature, pushing the boundaries of acceptability in cinema.

One could categorize “Long Pigs” as a work of exploitative filmmaking. The title pushes the limits of what is considered normal and acceptable. It treads in the footsteps of movies that defy conventional boundaries and challenge the viewer’s comfort zone. Perhaps you expected it to be reminiscent of films like “The Human Centipede” (2009), with its grotesque premise of sewing people together, but “Long Pigs” takes a different approach. Rather than focusing on explicit physical mutilation, it delves into the psychological aspects of a taboo subject, aiming to normalize a topic that is commonly condemned.

While “Long Pigs” may not be for everyone, it presents a thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche and societal norms. Just like any controversial work of art, it invites discussion and introspection, challenging viewers to confront their own perceptions and boundaries.

There are plenty of scenes in Long Pigs where it’s all very mundane. like you are watching a movie about someone who goes to work, plays a sport, cooks a BBQ for his mates, and visits his aging mother in the home she is in. Every so often Anthony takes or brings someone from the street and kills them in the downstairs basement of his house, then cooks a meal.

Interview with Long Pigs Star, Anthony

I love animals, if it lives and breathes, I want to eat it.

— Anthony McAlister quote from the film Long Pigs

Star of the Cannibal Movie Chronicles

It’s unnerving, his eyes looking into the camera are deceiving. As if you could see him thinking things over. I liked the use of this technique, it made it extra personal. The character development through his behavior with his friends and towards the filmmakers shows an intelligence that builds a creepy tension. Anthony comes across as a lion and everyone he meets is a rabbit, even if he looks like a teddy bear.

I hated Long Pigs’ grimy feel but to be fair, this is a great film. I wish the writers had gone on and done other things as it’s rare to see a movie that is horror-related and gives so much about the character that at times you forget it’s a horror mockumentary. I’ve seen it sub-classified as a comedy horror film. Comedy, it is not.

Some said it had a predictable ending it did. It was my least favorite part of the film apart from the opening scenes but they set the tone so I forgive them.
