Good Night Gracie 2017
Aired exclusively right on the channel and the story is about a Christ-loving eight-year-old. One night she awakens to loud noise and assumes that her mom and stepdad are fighting. When the noise becomes out of the norm, she sneaks out to investigate. This particular short decides to promote the ethos of “blind faith leading to death” and uses its storytelling and a few cliches to do it.
With that in mind, here is the short film in all its 3.3-minute glory.
The writer/director Stellan Kendrick has had personal experiences with exorcisms having been taken to them by his parents. He believes that rather than having faith, people need to combat the terrors of reality and personal family drama head-on. Superman will not fly in and save the day.
This short stars Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn), Caige Coulter, Zoe Simpson Dean, and Brad Goodman and has been loved by audiences.
Goodnight Gracie’s distributor is Gunpowder & Sky.
The short premiered at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in October 2017 and was produced by Evidence Productions.

What Did I Think Of The YouTube Horror Film – GoodNight Gracie?
I think anything that manages to create an enticing story and add a splash of good quality gore all while building up a nice dose of tension is a good thing. I love that the writer/director is drawing on a personal experience not many of us (hopefully) could say they were inspired by. To be able to shove in a perpetual allegory of how some choose to do nothing to aid their own situations and place all their value on faith is quite a hard task.
Kendrick has managed to sum up this idea darkly and horrifically which shows a deft hand at not only succinct story-telling but skillful use of time. The small touches of having Gracie asleep on her bible and owning a Jesus torch were nice touches that paved the way to etch out the story where only a little narrative is present.
Worth 3 and a half minutes of your night.
I give Goodnight Gracie
4 Jesus torches out of 5
