Directed by Matthew Ninaber, known for his work on the cult favorite “Psycho Gorman“, this film features Ninaber himself. He plays the mysterious hat-wearing monster. In this all-things-monster horror flick, he takes on the role of a blind and terrifying creature that lurks in the shadows. “Death Valley” is a nail-biting independent feature film that wallows through a world of darkness and survival.
The story revolves around Dr. Chloe, a skilled bioengineer who finds herself trapped in an underground laboratory. The movie kicks off with intense and action-packed opening scenes. Chloe desperately tries to escape from an unknown assailant. In a bid for help, she sends out a distress signal. The signal summons a team of courageous mercenaries to embark on a daring rescue mission. Meanwhile, Chloe must remain vigilant and evade a monstrous entity with a horrifying appearance and a penchant for tearing apart anything in its path.
Death Valley Animals Will Hunt You
The action-packed film “Death Valley” follows Marshall and Beckett, a small team of guns for hire, as they embark on a dangerous mission to rescue a damsel in distress. Little do they know, others also set their sights on the underground bunker. In their journey through a dense forest, they encounter numerous shootouts, intense fights, and heavily armed enemies. The constant action keeps the audience on their toes. However, some may find the relentless action sequences tiresome after a while. Nevertheless, the majority of the film maintains a rapid pace. All parties involved find themselves in a race against time. Once they finally reach the facility, the stakes escalate even further. The second half of the movie is something to really be invested in.
Death Valley: A Super Fun Horror Creature Feature
The monster here in Death Valley reminded me a lot of the creatures in Netflix’s The Silence. However, this killer titan does not have wings. It does rely on its senses though and the coloring and facial features are similar, as are the sounds it makes. Special effects and makeup throughout are awesome. Special effects are courtesy of Audrey Barrett (she did makeup for The Boys TV series and special effects for Psycho Gorman.) So it’s no wonder things looked so dark, nightmare-fuelled, and gruesome.
Death Valley takes a unique approach to the horror movie genre. It deviates from the traditional formula, offering a refreshing experience for horror enthusiasts. Despite having a relatively small cast, the film provides a diverse range of characters, each with their own gripping storylines. It’s easy to find someone to root for.

Furthermore, Death Valley offers unexpected twists and turns within the characters’ arcs. These surprises add depth and intrigue to the story, enriching the overall narrative.
In conclusion, Death Valley is a must-watch for horror enthusiasts looking for something different. Its unconventional storyline, memorable characters, intense kills, and surprising character arcs make for an exhilarating cinematic experience.
