See For Me, Thriller Movie For Fans of Don’t Breathe
The “See For Me” movie reminded me a lot of the film Don’t Breathe or 2023’s Unseen. Both are completely different stories, mind you. However, both thriller movies take a vision-impaired person and place them at the center of danger. Both See for Me 2021 and Don’t Breathe also feature violent home invasions and an opportunity for a blind person to fight back. This tense tale of the wrong place at the wrong time adds some extra oomph. It combines all that and an app that helps the vision-impaired use their mobile device to “see” by talking to the user through their phone’s video chat. It’s a technologically advanced home invasion movie.
In the See For Me movie, Skyler is an ex-professional Olympic-level skier. Sadly, she is left taking odd jobs after a career-ending degenerative eye condition. Now blind and sportless she sits in a large million-dollar home to cat-sit for people she barely knows. But before you feel too sorry for blind girl Skyler, in another similar plot twist as Don’t Breathe, Skyler isn’t as innocent as she seems either. The first thing she does when she arrives at the house is, figure out where the cellar is and locate a nice bottle of expensive wine to pilfer and sell at a later date.
Now You See Me, Now You Don’t
Skyler is frustrated at the loss of her independence and is still in the throes of taking it out on those around her. So much so, that when she finds herself locked out of the mansion that houses the kitty cat she is watching, her only option is to use the video chat app to get herself back inside. And this is where See For Me will either make it or break it for some.
Connected with live support person Kelly, it’s immediately obvious where this thriller movie is headed. Moments before answering Skyler’s call she is seen knee-deep in an enthusiastic online game of Call of Duty. She’s great at handling her avatar to take down unseen enemies and knows how to use an in-game gun. Wonder what she’ll do with that skill set.
And like any good home invasion movie, it’s not long before a group of thieves turn up and start drilling into the walls of what they think is an empty house. As Skyler sleeps she wakes up to the sound of unusual noises and when she is positive something bad is going down calls the police and her new friend Kelly.
Movies With Home Invasions
Skyler begins her escape mission. Of course, nothing is ever simple when you are busy hiding from three bad guys while waiting for rescue. It’s at this point, that each character in the See For Me movie gives you a reason to fear. Between the director, writers, and lead star Skyler Davenport, everyone steering the narrative can be said to be doing an exceptional job with their first feature film.
While on the predictable side, the film is entertaining. It’s also well-paced and uses the space of the large estate with a deft hand. Sure, there’s nothing new here when compared with other films with similar prop devices. But See For Me is a good story. Even if it has dubious moral standards.

Fortunately, the cat featured in the film belongs to one of the homeowners who is robbing his own house. The cat remains unscathed and barely anyone, including the cat-sitter, pays it any attention.

Skyler is using the pet-sitting jobs as a cover to swipe valuables from the people she works for. She believes her blindness is the perfect cover for forever being accused of stealing. The husband of the woman who hired her is in the midst of a bitter divorce. He has been hiding money in the safe for years and sends some would-be thieves to rescue his hidden savings.
Skyler realizes she can take a cut of the money and offers her skills to get rid of the police as a bargaining chip. When things go awry, all the robbers are killed and she took the opportunity to take as much money as she could when things got chaotic. At the end of See For Me, she is seen being wheeled out of the hospital with a bag containing the stolen money which she used to fund her way back into the skiing arena.
