I’m not sure what I thought I was getting with a title like “Beaten to Death”, but let me start by saying it’s a film that lives up to its name. Secondly, Mother of Movies would like to point out that while I appreciate the finer points that went into making this movie, Beaten to Death is not my cup of tea. The heavily featured gore, violence, and on-screen torture are completely and utterly in your face. The special effects are immaculate and vivid.
There are some still shots and cinematography that had me ogle the beauty of Australia. However, there is nothing “nice” about this film’s narrative. It is more of a juxtaposition of our uplifting landscape against the ugliness of humanity.
You have to admire the horror genre! It’s a realm that I take great delight in exploring. I wholeheartedly immerse myself in the world of horror films, eagerly devouring each scene with an insatiable appetite for the macabre. I appreciate the artistry behind the special effects, carefully scrutinizing every detail. Yet, my fascination doesn’t end there. The energy and chaos of the genre always draw me further into its dark embrace. While some may shy away from the visceral imagery of severed limbs and gushing blood, the thrill and adrenaline that comes with it, make up for everything. For me, it’s a testament to the power of cinema and the raw emotions it can evoke.

If you are the kind of horror fan that five-starred cult classics like the brutal “Daddy’s Little Girl”, the out-of-control “The Sadness”, or the utterly arduous “Wake in Fright”, you have a new favorite. It’s safe to say this will be your new favorite. After a blazing tour on the festival circuit in Australia, Beaten to Death, directed by Sam Curtain hit the festival circuit in Las Angeles. Then the title had a short theatrical release here in Australia in October 2022.
For its non-target audience, I can tell already this could be another movie touted to have people fainting in the aisles and puking in the doorways. If that’s actually a thing, that is. Welcome Villain will be showing the title in theaters around the USA from September 1st, 2023. I implore you to give Beaten to Death the fanfare it deserves.
Beaten to Death Trailer
There is plenty to like about Beaten to Death. The story is a conglomeration of a snowball effect of what could go wrong, and will. The soul-beating narrative follows spouses who decide to ask a man to sell them drugs. About to be in financial ruin, they think they have what it takes to make some money.
An opportunistic idea that goes wrong. And when they end up on the wrong side of a gigantic man called Ned, he begins what can only be described as a run of bad luck for Jack. When the deal goes sideways, Jack tries to retreat. No harm no foul after all. But Ned smells money and is keen to take what they have regardless. Push comes to shove and the punches start flying. Lots and lots of punches.
Beaten to Death 2022 Is Rated
As the story of Beaten to Death moves forward, so does Jack. He is not a man who stays down for long. If ever there was to be a dictionary meaning for the term “have a cup of concrete and harden the f*&@k up,” Jack would be that definition. Jack as a person is the ultimate portrayal of never giving up.

4 just because I don’t like torture, doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate top-notch filmmaking out of 5
The glorious outback horror movie is distributed by Welcome Villain in the USA. Beaten to Death is a movie with loads of violence if that’s what you want.
For more ultra-violent cinema like Beaten To Death you could watch Megalomaniac | The Nightingale | Charlie’s Farm or Carnage for Christmas for your next dose of gore.
