Mayfair Witches Release Date to AMC+ & AMC (Anne Rice)
Fans of Anne Rice’s recent series Interview With the Vampire will be happy to know her new novel adaption series The Mayfair Witches premiered on January 8th, 2023 on AMC and AMC+. Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches is based on the trilogy of best sellers, Lives of the Mayfair Witches. The horror series comprises 8 episodes centered around a beautiful neurosurgeon called Rowan. The role is played by Alexander Daddario (The White Lotus, The Texas Chainsaw.)
Rowan finds out she has inherited magical powers as well as become part of a family of witches. While getting a handle on her new abilities, a dark presence that has been around for hundreds of years makes itself known to her.
Mark Johnson (executive producer of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire) also produced Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Halt and Catch Fire, and Rectify), and will be overseeing the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Alongside Johnson will be Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex, On Becoming a God in Central Florida) and Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex, The Pacific, John Adams) who are both executive producers and writers of the TV series. Spalding will take on the showrunner. Anne Rice’s son Christopher serves as executive producer on all films and series developed under an agreement with AMC.
AMC Networks acquired the rights to Rice’s novels “The Vampire Chronicles” and “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” in 2020 (as reported by Variety.) Anne Rice passed away in December 2021.

With the second series, the Anne Rice Universe will expand. Judging by the trailer above, and having seen the series it did do the popular books justice. I adored the previous series Interview With the Vampire, and this one is just as addictive.
The cast of The Mayfair Witches series stars also includes Jack Huston (Fargo, Manhunt), Tongayi Chirisa (Another Life, The Jim Gaffigan Show), and Harry Hamlin (Mad Men, L.A. Law).
