The Binge 2 It's A Wonderful Binge (2022)

And so The Binge 2: It’s a Wonderful Binge was borne. Imagine if Cheech and Chong multiplied into multiple bodies and didn’t look like Cheech and Chong but everyone sounded like they were driving a bus driven by someone using wacky tobacco. Then imagine those same characters are doing Christmas in 2027 when the government banned all illegal substances, except for one day. That same government then decided it’s pretty darn hard to get through Christmas sober, so they moved the new holiday to Christmas Day. The cast features well-known faces, the likes of Kaitlin Olson, Danny Trejo, Patty Guggenheim, Eduardo Franco, and Dexter Darden plus a bunch of others.

First and foremost, I managed to watch this film completely sober, which allowed me to assess it with a clear mind. Even though I enjoy indulging in a few glasses of refreshment during the holidays, I decided to watch it while well-rested. I must admit, there were moments when I found it to be rather obnoxious. Although “The Binge 2” introduced some genuinely hilarious concepts, its overall duration felt excessive and overstayed its welcome.

The title claims an errant criminal jail escapee brother whose leg was all but snapped off getting up and walking just fine. Then there’s a Christmas Owl that remained as the consistent running gag clawing people’s faces from start to finish. A grandmother who snorts cocaine and sleeps with her eyes open cast off the Hallmark family whose members were stretched into this group of odd prim and proper people who loved nothing more than soaking in the loungeroom spa and rolling on the carpet to dry and save on towels.

It’s A Wonderful Binge 2022

“The Binge 2: It’s A Wonderful Binge” checks off several nods and namedrops a load of different films. Titles like “Freaky Friday”, and “Love Actually” are not only riffed on but celebrated as an integral part of the narrative. Several storylines are bobbing alongside each other. Hag is trying to propose to his girlfriend and also get her family’s blessing. There is a lactose-intolerant teen called Andrew who feels like his whole life is a waste of time. While the rest of his family screech at each other about everything that’s wrong with anything, Andrew decides to end it all and instead runs into an angel called Angel (Danny Trejo.)

It’s a Wonderful Binge sounds a lot funnier on paper than I think watching it might be. However, if you are looking for something completely silly to put on in the background and are sick of sickly sweet Christmas goop, The Binge 2 might serve your needs.
