The Deep House explained

First of all, I’m sorry. Not featuring the name of the movie that has been used to lure you here to find out what film is being referred to. All the big movie sites are doing it. And every time I see an article framed in that way, I tend to want to know what they are talking about. In this instance, it’s The Deep House.

If you still haven’t seen this underwater nightmare fuel horror movie by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (Inside) you should probably watch it. For a full list of where to watch The Deep House in whatever country you are in, there is a handy link below that should give you that information. The title is on a multitude of streaming platforms like Paramount, Netflix, and Prime Video depending on where you are.

Seated firmly in the supernatural subgenre as well as having a firm grip in the found footage horror movie niche, The Deep House follows Ben and Tina. Madly in love, engaged people, and very much into being popular YouTubers. Haunted Houses are their bread and butter and the two lovers travel far and wide live-recording each spooky home they find. While searching for a new ghost house they arrive at the rumored site only to discover that the artificial lake it’s supposed to be under is heavily populated by tourists.

Their disappointment is short-lived when a local man called Pierre offers to take them to the real underwater haunted mansion. Pierre promised an untouched spatial home underneath the smooth dark waters.

The Haunted House Movie is Not a True Story

A narrative like this was always going to garner attention from most discerning cinematic appreciators. Blending a duo of the most prominent horror subgenres is a surefire way to a successful production. And this scary movie for horror fans has a lot of love. However, like many horror movies, the audience is divided. The majority wholeheartedly agree the setting deserves an A+.

The title’s production value has also been widely acknowledged on a technical level too. Many viewers want to know how exactly The Deep House was made. Filmed in the Raviège and Saint Peyres lakes, underwater, for the most part, there are various articles detailing how grueling such a task was. I for one found many scenes elicited enough fear to be impressed overall.

Those who had issues with The Deep House can be seen reviewed on sites like Reddit, IMBd.com, and Wikipedia. Many of them cited some very similar gripes. For instance, some said the story and depth of its characters didn’t quite live up to expectations. A general outpouring of dissatisfaction can be found concerning the main cast. Ben and Tina had subpar scripting and were unlikeable.

Additionally, the unique setting only slightly took away from the fact the rest of the film is just a run-of-the-mill haunted house story. Another negative pointed out by filmgoers was how dark the found footage film was as well. Alongside mentions of too much shaky cam, generic haunted horror tropes, and lots of yelling made The 2021 film more of a nightmare than nightmare fuel.

The Deep House Ending Explained

Like lots of supernatural movies, The Deep House’s ending is also a very popular search term. To explain the ending Mother of Movies needs to delve into spoiler territory. The mansion was once owned by a family called the Montégnacs. Various newspaper articles point to this twisted family being responsible for a plethora of crimes. Most of the evil acts involved children and satanic sacrifices. After Ben and Tina discover the masked floating bodies caged in the cellar, they are separated. Ben discovers that the local man from the beginning of the film is related to the Montégnacs and is shown on a family tree to be the son of Mr. Montégnac.

Pierre and the home’s insidious owners are seen in video footage to be in an alliance Together they performed a spate of child abductions in the local area using them in satanic rituals. The senior family members were hunted down by vigilantes and drowned in cages. While trapped inside the home, Ben succumbs to possession by the Montégnacs’ ghosts inside The Deep House.

Ben unsuccessfully tries to lure Tina to be part of the ghostly nuclear family. However, Tina escapes only to surreptitiously drown as her air finally runs out. Pierre continued his murderous exploits as the sole survivor of the bloodline. He is seen at the end of The Deep House escorting police to the scene of the latest series of deaths.
