The Wrath Of Becky, Will There Be A Trilogy? - Mother of Movies

The Wrath of Becky is the highly anticipated follow-up sequel to Becky, another film featuring the same ethos and accountability as its origin story. A rare occurrence when filmmakers in charge of controlling the narrative are different from one film to the next. There is rarely consistency. Somehow though between different writers and different directors, “The Wrath of Becky” is a worthy successor.
An enjoyable foray into all things revenge sees the continuance of Becky’s serving of lemons in life. Here, Becky (Lulu Wilson) is again the underdog and a representation of how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. She has found her peace in meeting a lady called Elena (Denise Burse.) Elena practices gratitude on a daily basis and the two have begun to heal each other.
“For every person you lose along the way, you gain another.”
Quote from Wrath of Becky 2023
She and her dog Diego live with Elena and for all intents and purposes, life is ok. The audience gets a small amount of intel with some training sequences Becky undertakes in the scrubland behind her house. The scene is also set with a radio announcement pertaining to a political group called The Noble Men who we are shown are making their way towards the town.
Best Revenge Movies
Three years after the first film, Becky now works in a cafe. She fantasizes about extreme violence, often daydreaming about alternative reactions to the customers she serves. The transitions into these dark moments are seamless and work toward the audience perceiving them as reality.
Despite knowing instantly The Wrath of Becky had devised a way to show us the dramatic mind of this now 16-year-old girl, I really liked how the opening act played out. After witnessing Becky slice a man’s throat with a smashed plate when he returns his breakfast because the toast is too cold to melt the butter, three men enter. Overhearing the way the trio talks about women in addition to being overtly rude to her, she purposely spills coffee on the ringleader.
From here The Wrath of Becky kicks up the action and anyone who has seen the first film knows this is where this story shines. Kill sequences extend to extremely colorful and inventive spatter territory. With the stage set at a remote property housing the Noble Man’s evolution into terrorism there is no shortage of high-caliber artillery and weapons that sets in motion some cinematic, over-the-top action. Fans of graphic comeuppance should be amply satisfied that everyone gets what they deserve.
Wrath of Becky Cast and Trilogy Plans
Casting for both the original and Wrath of Becky also shows some common points of interest. The lead bad guy in the 2020 title is Kevin James, a known funny man who flips the stereotypical casting he is usually given and masquerades as a Neo-Nazi with conviction. In the sequel, another actor known for his comedic genius on the silver screen plays Darryl. Seann William Scott falls into his villainous terrorism role with solid believability. So much so, you’ll forget he was ever in American Pie.
The film’s writer and director Matt Angel also stars. Suzanne Coote co-wrote the storyline together. Performances across the board toe the line of comic levity directed toward much of the narrative’s super slick menacing tone.
The final moments of Wrath of Becky introduce what might happen next. It blatantly alludes to more for this character and the possibility of a third installment. Not only did the film pave the way for Becky 3, but the cast and filmmakers have spoken out loud about this too during numerous interviews during the SXSW premiere.
