Is Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor the final film in this franchise? We don’t know, but the fourth film certainly steps up a little from its two predecessors. Mother of Movies classifies the original film in this series of haunted house movies as one of the scariest horror movies ever. Hell House LLC introduced the eerie and unexplained presence of a bunch of clown statues in a basement. In 2023, the same filmmaker Stephen Cognetti is still expanding on this idea. After the first film, The Abaddon Hotel became the focus of the narrative, and a second film was released in 2015. In 2019 came Hell House LLC: Lake of Fire.

“Although this is the fourth film in the Hell House LLC series, I want fans to know that this is not a ‘part 4’ or a prequel. In making the Carmichael Manor, I wanted to create an original story within the Hell House LLC universe yet set it in the present day instead of making a precursor to the original trilogy. As a filmmaker, the Carmichael Manor allowed me to explore some of the themes and origins from the hotel’s mythology, while introducing new characters and mysteries surrounding the events that took place in 1989 in a stand-alone origin story, one of several I hope to create,”

This time, we follow Margot and Destiny, cold case investigators. It’s Margot who convinces her best friend to one last haunted house. Reluctantly together they set their sights on the infamous Carmichael Manor. Margot leads the quest to uncover the truth behind the unsolved murders of the Carmichael family. Together with short clips of old news footage about the brutal murders Hell House LLC Origins takes to task filling in the gaps from previous films. Ignoring the warnings and haunted history surrounding the manor, they set up their equipment and began their investigation. Margot also invites her troubled brother James to join them in a bid to keep an eye on him during his latest bout of depression.

Night after night, Margot and Destiny search for clues hoping to shed light on the dark secrets that have shrouded the Carmichael Manor for decades. But as the days turn into nights, there is an instant feeling of dread, and their initial enthusiasm fades away. Margot, however, is not deterred. As odd things start to happen with increasing menace, Hell House LLC Origins turns the handle into familiar territory. Fortunately, it amply increases the screen time for its most popular and notorious villains, the clowns.

The title is strongly established, featuring familiar faces that fans of the previous films will instantly recognize. The narrative structure cleverly intertwines a nonlinear timeline, effectively weaving together the past and present storylines through the use of found footage. This approach not only adds depth to the overall plot but also offers a fresh perspective on the events that transpired. Additionally, the inclusion of survivors from the earlier movies adds another layer of intrigue as they provide firsthand accounts of what occurred in both the initial events and the more recent developments involving Destiny, Margot, and her brother.

The distorted figures, eerie sounds, and otherworldly occurrences captured on tape make the infamous Hell House tapes pale in comparison. Unearthly whispers, apparitions and unexplained phenomena unfold, painting a terrifying picture of what occurred within the walls of Carmichael Manor. And this time, we get more of the story behind the forces responsible and what they are capable of.

However, the truth remains elusive. While we are led into another disappearance concerning yet more investigators, Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor becomes yet another chapter in the sinister history. The malevolent forces continue to lurk within the manor’s walls, eager to ensnare anyone who dares to delve into its dark past.
