Fried Barry, A Dirty Coke Snorting, Body Hijacking Alien (Short Film)

Fried Barry was made into a feature-length film derived from a short film released in 2017. Fried Barry is not your average cinematic experience. The idea for the story comes from the mind of writer, director, and producer Ryan Kruger. In the original short film and premise for the world cinema horror movie, there is a heroin addict who gets abducted by aliens. His subsequent body hijacking, as well as tonnes and tonnes of a rather dank atmosphere, make for a unique and original viewing experience.

Fried Barry Original Short Film

When the short film Fried Barry was released, Kruger explained that this type of film is one of a kind when comes to comparing it to other movies from South Africa. When it comes to short film adaptations, there is a certain amount of risk. The short had a massive following before the feature film’s release. However, in an interview with thesouthafrican.com, Kruger added that he believed this movie would be unforgettable and hopefully pave the way for growth in the South African movie industry. The story for the full Fried Barry movie follows the washed-up hot mess, Barry, as he goes about his life. His evenings are spent abusing his wife and son and getting busy attending to his addiction. After a rather undeniably heated example of his two favorite pastimes, Barry leaves the house in a drug-induced state. He finds himself transported to an alien spaceship. It’s here that Barry is not only abducted but also has his body taken over, hijacked, and now controlled by these visitors to Earth.

The full movie promises a joyride through Cape Town, South Africa, as the aliens use and abuse Barry’s body more than Barry ever could. Sex, violence, and abduction by aliens. What more could you want in a horror movie?
