Josh Becker’s1977 crime thriller, Running Time is getting a makeover. But don’t worry, it’s not being remade or rebooted, just re-printed. The new edition Blu-ray is being handled by Synapse Films released through MVD. You’ll be able to buy it to watch in a 2K restoration of the original camera negative. Synapse Films announced via a press release on December 2nd, 2020 its new title distribution agreement with MVD Entertainment Group. Together they’re releasing the heist film on Blu-ray and DVD in March 2021. Running Time’s director Becker, gave a massive thumbs up to the venture of a new special edition of his movie which has been out of circulation for over ten years.
If you’ve never seen Running Time, the movie stars the legendary Bruce Campbell. With him are a bunch of other great faces like Jeremy Roberts, Anita Barone, Willian Stanford Davis, and Gordon Jennison Noice. Inspired by Hitchcock’s film, Rope, Running Time is famed for playing out in “one continuous shot.” There were also no computer-assisted effects to make it all work right. Just 70 minutes of real-time action on the streets of Las Angeles.
The Story For Running Time
The story follows Carl (played by Campbell) who orchestrates a plan to rob the prison he was just released from. His heist has been calculated over the ten years as Carl worked within the laundry system. He’s got it all figured out and once he’s out, Carl enlists his ally Patrick (Jeremy Roberts) to drive the getaway car and crack the safe.
Shot completely in black and white, Running Time is known for its tight script and witty dialogue. A cult movie for all the right reasons. Now you can see it presented with the original theatrical stereo mix. You can turn on audio commentary from directors Josh Becker and Bruce Campbell. And, the special features also come with a new interview format that runs for 22 minutes called “Run and Gun with Bruce Campbell.”
